Transfer Credit and Degree Completion Policy
Transfer Credit and Degree Completion Policy
Cornerstone University's process for evaluating and awarding appropriate transfer credit is consistent with the University’s academic quality standards, educational goals, and accreditation expectations.
Students may transfer up to 75% of the credits required for a degree, with at least 25% of the degree completed through Cornerstone University.
The Registrar’s Office, in collaboration with the Office of Academics, holds institutional authority for the evaluation, acceptance, articulation, and application of transfer credit, including transfer equivalencies, block transfer arrangements, articulation agreements, and prior learning pathways, with consultation from the appropriate academic schools as needed to ensure academic integrity, curricular alignment, program quality, and alignment with approved curricular learning expectations.
General education requirements may be satisfied through approved transfer blocks, articulation agreements, completed associate degrees, or other transfer coursework when the University determines that the transferred credit collectively demonstrates appropriate breadth, level, rigor, and alignment with Cornerstone’s general education framework and Institutional Learning Domain without requiring one-to-one course equivalencies in every instance.
The awarding of transfer credit does not exempt any student from the requirement to achieve the University’s Institutional Learning Domains or applicable program learning outcomes required for degree completion. Where transfer coursework does not fully satisfy these expectations, students may be required to complete additional coursework or other approved academic requirements to demonstrate achievement of required learning outcomes.
At least 9 credits of the major (or accompanying concentration) must be completed at Cornerstone.
