This course will provide an introduction to the healthcare industry, specifically the roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals, education and certification requirements, and practice sites. Students will develop an understanding of the intricacies of healthcare and the challenges faced by healthcare professionals.

Management of operations, including design of prodUct or service; process selection; facility location and layout; job design and work measurement; learning models; forecasting scheduling, inventory and quality control/assurance; project management; operation information systems.

Ethical and philosophical issues arising in and from the health care system. Problems and conflicts posed by interpersonal, professional and client relationships. Questions dealing with the right to live, the right to die, informed consent, sterilization, abortion, and human experimentation, and the just allocation of limited resources, through the lens of patients as being made in God's image and through the Christian worldview.

Utilize the concepts and tools to analyze and describe how diseases are distributed in populations. Students will address disease prevention measures, risk factors, and construct epidemiological studies using the currently appropriate and emerging technological tools in their analysis.

Students analyze the intentions and outcomes of and Medicaid and their delivery, payments, and financing. They will understand the fundamentals of health risks and insurance and alternative funding approaches along with integrated health care delivery systems, consumer-directed health plans, retiree, senior, and disability coverage, and long-term care insurance.

Overview of disease treatment that examines the impact of Christian faith along with social, psychosocial, mental health, and physiological factors. The multiple determinants of health provide a framework to investigate how a wide array of physical and non-physical realities contribute to health determination, disease, and healing.

Students will engage with and become conversant with emerging technologies in medicine as tools for ethical and effective techiques in diagnostics, interpretation of tests, and healthcare records process and access. They will train A.I. and neural networds to learn from data sets that provide physicians and clinical leaders with actionable insights to improve health outcomes. They will also address the ethical, legal, and standards of care related to emerging technology.

"Hands-on" overview of trends and innovations in information technology, use of information systems in routine health care management processes and how data is captured throughout the process of providing patient care. Builds on basic computing skills and presents various health care databases, e.g. medical record systems, ADT, laboratory, patient accounting, decision support, clinical and financial information systems, with an emphasis on HIPPA and the legal and ethical questions surrounding data collection and use with tools like SQL.

Developing a frame of reference for research and evaluation of health care programs. Research and evaluation methods, including setting objectives, measurement of attitudes, and presenting evaluation reports.
