Course Withdrawal
On-Campus and Online Students
Students who wish to withdraw from a course, may do so through week 11 of a 15-week course and through week 4 of a 7-week course (see the academic calendar for specific dates each term). Students must submit the Course Withdrawal form on the Registrar’s page of MyCU. The Registrar’s Office will process the withdrawal by notifying the instructor and issuing a grade of “W.” A course with a grade of “W” does not factor into GPA.
Course withdrawals will not be permitted after the withdrawal deadline. Students will remain on the course roster and receive a final grade at the end of the term.
Students who wish to appeal a grade may follow the grade appeal policy.
SOAR™Students
Students who register for and undertake coursework within their first class on the SOAR platform have 10 calendar days from the date of registration (which will occur at the time of your first Academic Event**) to withdraw from the program without academic consequences. The withdrawal will also eliminate any tuition fees accrued to date for the class and program. Students must contact the Registrar’s Office to formally withdraw. The Drop Policy is only in effect for the first course on the SOAR platform during a student’s continuous matriculation. The university assumes that students on the SOAR platform are continuously enrolled and engaged in courses due to the self-paced nature of the SOAR platform programs. Gaps in active course participation, after the 10-day drop period, are expected and common, and do not constitute a formal withdrawal from the course or program.
Once a student has recorded an academic event in a course, the student will earn a grade in the course if he or she completes 50% or greater of the course requirements before the end of the subsequent term. Students completing less than 50% of a course's requirements will be administratively withdrawn and awarded a grade of "W."
**Students must have an Academic Event at least once every 60 days to meet the University’s SOAR attendance policy. An “Academic Event” is a graded activity, such as a quiz or a reflection assignment, within a course. Failure to produce an academic event within a 60-day period may result in administrative withdraw from a course and/or suspension from the program.
